The Ghost of Tom Joad and Devils & Dust are probably the three Titleist 2021 shirt that have inspired myself the most, when it comes to my own songwriting. Of the three my least favorite is Devils & Dust, but that doesn’t say much since I love almost all songs on the album. The only song I dislike is Reno and that is mostly the lyrics fault. Some parts of the lyrics are beautiful and I like them a lot, for example “Sunlight on the Amatitlan, sunlight streaming through your hair. In the Valle de dos Rios, smell of mock orange filled the air.”. But on other parts of the lyrics I think he went a bit far (I think you guys know what I mean). Devils & Dust is a song that I didn’t pay that much attention to before I saw Vh-1 Storytellers. It made me open my eyes on how an excellent song it is, especially the lyrics “I got my finger on the trigger, but I don’t know who to trust” is such a powerful opening line, it could easily be one of my favorite opening lines in a song ever.
